To choose a color, I’m testing out the new Paint-a-Scene feature in the ColorSnap® visualizer app by Sherwin-Williams. It allows me to hold my phone up to the space and preview colors right on the screen! I’m using Tricorn Black SW 6258 for the perfect mix of bold color in a subdued, soft matte finish. Because I want great coverage, my local Sherwin-Williams paint expert suggested using Emerald® Interior Paint, which offers a paint and primer in one. For this project I also picked up paint sticks, a paint tray and liners, a 2½-inch angled tip synthetic paint brush to cut in along the edges, a roller frame fitted with a 3/8-inch nap roller cover, a drop cloth, painter’s tape, spackle, and a sanding sponge. This project is sponsored by Sherwin-Williams®. All opinions are our own.

Step 2: Prep the Wall Using a lint-free cloth and warm water, wash the wall remove all grease, dirt and grime. Fill nail holes with spackle. Sand the area smooth, and wipe the dust from the wall. Step 3: Tape Off the Baseboard and Ceiling Using painter’s tape, tape off the baseboard and ceiling. Place a drop cloth on the floor along the wall to protect the floor. Step 4: Get Ready to Paint Fill the basin of the paint tray. I’m using Emerald® Interior Paint in Tricorn Black SW 6258 for the perfect mix of bold color in a subdued, soft matte finish. Step 5: Cut in Along the Edges Using a 2 ½-inch synthetic angled-tip paintbrush, cut in along the ends of the wall. Step 6: Load the Roller Fit the roller frame with a 3/8-inch nap roller cover. Roll the frame and cover into the tray until the cover is completed coated. Step 7: Apply the Paint Apply the paint to the wall working in overlapping w-patterns. Step 8: Finish Applying the Paint Continue coating the wall. Apply a second coat if needed. Step 9: Remove the Painters Tape While the paint is still tacky, remove the painter’s tape. Let the paint dry overnight.
